Krakow is one of the most interesting weekend destinations in Europe, and for good reason. Poland's former capital combines a historic center, a vibrant restaurant and bar culture, affordable price levels, and easy transportation from one place to another, which makes the trip hassle-free. The city left an impression especially with its cleanliness, safety, and organization. The atmosphere was relaxed, the people friendly, and the price level appealing to a Finnish traveler.
Accommodation in an excellent location near the old town

As our base for the weekend, we used Hotel Pod Wawelemwhich is located right near Wawel Castle and the Vistula River. The hotel was standard and offers everything needed for a successful city break. The breakfast was quite sufficient for our needs. It's worth requesting a room with a street view, as the scenery is prettier than looking out at the courtyard.
The biggest asset is the location. The Old Town, river cruises, the Kazimierz district, and many attractions are within walking distance. The hotel's rooftop terrace, offering great views over the city, was especially nice. If you are traveling with a larger group, it is a good idea to book a table in advance.

From the map below, you can see the locations of Hotel Pod Wawelem and other hotels, and you can proceed directly to book your accommodation. Prices will update once you select your travel dates.
The Old Town is among the best in Europe.

Krakow's Old Town is the heart of the city. The main square is surrounded by historic buildings, cafés, restaurants, and numerous terraces. Horses with carriages pass by.
Walking through the narrow alleys, you constantly encounter interesting details: old churches, small squares, and local cafes. It is worth visiting the area both during the day and in the evening, as the atmosphere changes depending on the time of day.

Kazimierz offers restaurants and nightlife

For many travelers, one of the most interesting areas in Kraków is Kazimierz, the city's historical Jewish quarter.
The area has a unique atmosphere of its own. Old buildings, street art, small restaurants, pubs, and cafes make it popular among both locals and tourists. For a night out, Kazimierz is an excellent choice, as the area offers plenty of bars without the hectic vibe of big cities.
The Kościuszko Mound offers views over the city

If you want to see Kraków from a slightly different perspective, you should head Kościuszko Mound Kopiec Kościuszki.
From the top of the hill, there are panoramic views of the city center, the Vistula River, and the surrounding areas. On a clear day, the scenery extends all the way to the Tatra Mountains.

Krakovassa liikkuminen on poikkeuksellisen vaivatonta.
Me vuokrattiin lentokentältä viikonlopun jälkeen auto, sillä matka jatkui Zakopaneen.
Factory Kraków Outlet tarjoaa löytöjä ennen kotimatkaa

Lähellä Krakovan lentokenttää sijaitseva Factory Kraków Outlet on hyvä pysähdyspaikka ennen paluulentoa.
Outlet-keskuksesta löytyy useita tunnettuja urheilu- ja vaatemerkkejä tavallista edullisemmilla hinnoilla. Oman matkan parhaisiin ostoksiin kuuluivat uudet maastojuoksulenkkarit sekä juoksukengät, jotka löytyivät huomattavasti Suomen hintoja edullisemmin Asics outletistä.
Jos matkalaukussa on tilaa, outlet kannattaa ottaa osaksi matkaohjelmaa erityisesti viimeisenä päivänä ennen lentokentälle siirtymistä.

Miksi Krakova sopii viikonloppulomalle?
