Many travelers are happy to spend several days in Krak\u00f3w, but only about 100 kilometers away a completely different world awaits. Zakopane, known as Poland\u2019s mountain capital, is surrounded by the dramatic peaks and breathtaking scenery of the Tatra National Park<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you haven\u2019t yet read our article about Krakow<\/a>it\u2019s well worth a look, as the town makes an excellent destination either for a day trip or as a two- to three-night extension to a city break in Krak\u00f3w.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Poland\u2019s affordable prices are also evident in Zakopane. Although it is one of the country\u2019s most popular tourist destinations, accommodation, dining, and activity costs remain significantly lower than in many well-known Alpine resorts. Visitors can often enjoy exceptional value for money here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to get to Zakopane from Krak\u00f3w?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We traveled from Krak\u00f3w to Zakopane by rental car. Car hire was affordable, and driving was straightforward thanks to the excellent road conditions throughout the journey. The distance is not great, but during holiday periods in particular, it's wise to allow extra time for traffic congestion, both on the roads leaving Krak\u00f3w and on the approach to Zakopane. On a quiet day, the drive takes around two hours, but during the busiest weekends, the journey can take considerably longer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A rental car is by no means essential, as Zakopane is also easily accessible from Krak\u00f3w by both bus and train. Bus services usually take a little over two hours, while train journeys typically last between two and three hours, depending on the service. During the busiest travel periods, such as winter holidays, New Year, and the summer holiday season, the train can be the more reliable option, as roads leading to Zakopane are often affected by heavy traffic congestion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We stayed at the relatively new Nova Hill hotel<\/a>which proved to be an excellent choice. The hotel is located right on the town\u2019s main road and just a short walk from Zakopane\u2019s famous Krup\u00f3wki pedestrian street, making it an ideal base for exploring the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What impressed us most was the hotel\u2019s warm, nature-inspired atmosphere and its genuinely friendly and helpful staff. The interior design makes extensive use of natural wood materials, including oak and spruce, creating a style that blends perfectly with the surrounding mountain landscape. As a result, the hotel feels anything but a generic chain property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hotel also offered stunning views of the Tatra Mountains, with the dramatic mountain backdrop looking particularly impressive in the evenings. All in all, staying at Nova Hill Hotel was one of the highlights of our trip and undoubtedly one of the best choices we made during our time in Zakopane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
